10. What does ADR mean and what are the ADR classes?
The National and International Carriage of Dangerous Goods is subject to the ADR Agreement. The classes of dangerous goods according to ADR are the following:
- Class 1: Explosive substances and articles
- Class 2: Gases, including compressed, liquefied, and dissolved under pressure gases and vapors
- Flammable gases (e.g. butane, propane, acetylene)
- Non-flammable and non-toxic, likely to cause asphyxiation (e.g. nitrogen, CO2) or oxidizers (e.g. oxygen)
- Toxic (e.g. Chlorine, Phosgene)
- Class 3: Flammable liquids
- Class 4.1: Flammable solids, self-reactive substances, and solid desensitized explosives
- Class 4.2: Substances liable to spontaneous combustion
- Class 4.3: Substances which, in contact with water, emit flammable gases
- Class 5.1: Oxidizing substances
- Class 5.2: Organic peroxides
- Class 6.1: Toxic substances
- Class 6.2: Infectious substances
- Class 7: Radioactive material

The reliability of HAVAKIS - MEGALONISOS is historically proven by the continuous presence of 3 generations of the Havakis family.
Starting from Agios Nikolaos, Crete, in 1969, Nikolaos G. Havakis transferred the head office of the company in Athens by establishing the headquarters and warehouse in the area of Votanikos, in order to provide the transportation of goods to and from Crete. At that time, the main activity of the company was the transportation of only dry goods to and from Crete.
Today, HAVAKIS MEGALONISOS is headed by George Chavakis. Corporate activities have been expanded and modernized according to the new standards. Integrated transport services, as well as storage and distribution services, of goods in all temperatures are now available.
Since 2014, the group has offices and warehouses in both Athens and Heraklion, Crete, where it operates two branches. It has more than 60 privately-owned trucks, employs specialized and experienced personnel and works with the most reliable network of partners for national and international transport of all types of cargoes, individual and groupage.
After 50 years of experience, HAVAKIS - MEGALONISOS is one of the most important and most reliable transport companies in the sector, both in the region of Crete and the rest of Greece.

HACCP
HACCP is an international standard based on preventive management of food safety issues and its mandatory implementation according to European and Greek legislation.
